Monserrat Larqué’s mission is to tell the stories of the silenced Latinas. Her film Alla/Over There portrays the people’s experiences with immigration to the U.S., abandonment, lack of resources, and male depopulation in a small town in Mexico. Larqué pays special attention to women’s unity, collective organizing, and women’s liberation.
About the Director: Larqué earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communication from the Universidad Iberoamericana with a specialization in Film. Her Master's Degree is in Feature Film Screenwriting at the Fundación para la Investigación Audiovisual de la Universidad Menéndez Pelayo in Valencia, Spain. Larqué has directed programs for Arts & Entertainment, Discovery Channel, and Dupont de Mexico among others. She has received several international awards on her films and short stories. Alla/Over There has been shown in seven International Film Festivals, and the film received awards for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best director, and Best film at the Gran Fiesta De Cine Mexicano Festival.

Oscar returns to Mexico for the first time and discovers himself as the only man among the women left living in this small place that never had a telephone or internet. While trying to return to the United States, he takes charge of the mail and meets a boy who asks for his father's letters. Touched, Oscar writes him the longed-for letters and thus begins to bond with him, with his mother and with the whole town.
